A 16-year-old boy was convicted of murder for fatally stabbing another teenager over a £20 cannabis debt, a case that unfolded in East Sussex last year. The victim, Joshua Ingram, also 16, was attacked in September while returning home from college. The accused, whose name is withheld due to his age, reportedly sought to maintain his reputation among peers when he stabbed Joshua twice in the chest.

CCTV footage from Seaford rail station captured Joshua lifting his shirt to reveal chest wounds, one of which pierced his heart. He collapsed on the platform and was pronounced dead at the scene. The defendant initially admitted to manslaughter but was ultimately found guilty of murder by a jury at Hove Crown Court.

Sentencing has been postponed to October. Joshua’s family, who live in Newhaven, issued a statement expressing hope that his story highlights the severe impact of knife crime. The case adds to ongoing concerns about youth violence and the consequences of small-scale drug disputes escalating into fatal incidents.
