A 14-year-old girl was found dead in woodland near Duffryn Park, Blaina, South Wales, after being reported missing on June 20. The victim, identified as Lilly Anne Jones, died from multiple stab wounds to the neck and chest, a post-mortem examination revealed during an inquest opening at Gwent Coroner’s Court.

Lilly was last seen around 6:50 p.m. on June 20 on High Street, Blaina. Her body was discovered shortly after 10 p.m. two days later near Blaina Bowls Club. Senior coroner Caroline Saunders confirmed the cause of death as multiple stab wounds to the neck and trunk and adjourned the inquest for further inquiries, setting a provisional date of April 6, 2027.

A 14-year-old boy from the Blaenau Gwent area has been charged with Lilly Anne Jones’s murder. The youth appeared at Cardiff Crown Court last month but did not enter a plea. He remains in custody ahead of a trial scheduled to begin on November 23, which is expected to last four weeks. The boy cannot be named due to legal restrictions.

Local authorities described the suspect as white British. Parts of Pilgrims Park and the surrounding area were cordoned off following the discovery of the body as police continued their investigation into the circumstances leading to Lilly’s death. The case has drawn significant attention in the community and remains under active inquiry.
