Officials from several Iranian ministries and government agencies convened on Tuesday at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts to examine a draft regulation intended to enhance coordination and foster growth in the country’s medical tourism sector. The meeting aimed to align efforts among key stakeholders and support strategic plans to develop this industry.

The session included Aboutorab Talebi, secretary of the government’s cultural and social commission; Anoushirvan Mohseni Bandpey, Deputy Minister of Tourism; Diako Abbasi, secretary of the medical tourism steering council at the Ministry of Tourism; Jamshid Kermanchi, head of the medical tourism office at the Ministry of Health; and Hossein Nekounam, head of the Iran Health Tourism Society, along with representatives from other relevant government bodies.

Attendees focused on reviewing the draft regulation, which has received approval from First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref. Discussions centered on defining the roles and responsibilities of the various ministries and organizations to ensure effective implementation of the regulatory framework.

The proposed regulation is part of Iran’s broader initiative to expand its medical tourism industry, which aims to capitalize on the country’s healthcare infrastructure and attract a growing number of international patients. By promoting inter-agency cooperation and providing a structured approach to sector development, officials hope to enhance service quality, streamline operations, and improve Iran’s competitiveness in the global medical tourism market.
