Telangana Jagruthi Qatar (TJQ) held its annual Student Excellence Awards 2026 on June 12 at the ICC Ashoka Hall, recognising the academic achievements of students from the Telugu community in Qatar. The ceremony honoured approximately 80 students from Class 10 and Class 12 for their outstanding scholastic performance.
Awardees received medals and certificates, while the highest-ranking students in both classes were presented with special mementoes acknowledging their dedication and achievements. In addition to student recognition, the event also celebrated the contribution of teachers from the Telugu community who have played a vital role in mentoring and supporting students’ academic journeys.
The programme was officiated by Dr Vaibhav Tandale, Counsellor (Head of Chancery & Consular) at the Embassy of India in Qatar, who served as the chief guest. In his address, Dr Tandale congratulated the award recipients and urged them to pursue their goals with determination and discipline. He highlighted education as a cornerstone of individual development and nation-building, encouraging students to strive for excellence in all aspects of life.
Motivational speeches from Shantanu Deshpande, Vice President of the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), and Shanavas Bhava, President of the Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF), reinforced the significance of quality education, community values, and support systems in shaping future leaders. Both speakers extended their congratulations to students, parents, and teachers for their shared commitment to educational success.
KK Garu, Chairperson of the organising committee, outlined the initiative’s goal to inspire young minds within the community and promote academic achievement. Senior community leader and ICBF Advisory Chairperson Prasad Rao Garu also addressed attendees, offering encouragement for students to maintain focus on their ambitions.
The event opened with a welcome from TJQ President Praveena Lakshmi and was hosted by TJQ General Secretary Adarsha Reddy. Vice President Nagalakshmi delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of dignitaries, parents, volunteers, sponsors, and community members who helped ensure the event’s smooth execution.
