The Television Academy has announced its 28th Hall of Fame class, honoring seven prominent figures whose careers have significantly shaped television across various genres, including documentary, animation, journalism, and comedy.
Among this year’s inductees is the late Ed Bradley, a distinguished correspondent for "60 Minutes" who dedicated nearly four decades to CBS News. Bradley, who passed away in 2006, was widely recognized for his in-depth reporting and impactful journalism.
Actor Ted Danson, known primarily for his iconic portrayal of Sam Malone on the NBC sitcom "Cheers," is also part of the class. Danson's enduring career has been marked by notable roles in recent series such as Netflix’s "A Man on the Inside" and NBC’s "The Good Place."
The creators of the animated series "South Park," Trey Parker and Matt Stone, will be inducted as well. Their Comedy Central show, which has earned five Emmy Awards, continues to attract audiences with its upcoming 29th season.
Jean Smart, an actress celebrated for her versatility and recent work on HBO Max’s "Hacks," is recognized for her seven Emmy wins. Her distinguished television credits also include performances in "Mare of Easttown" and "Designing Women."
Sheila Nevins, a prolific producer with over 1,500 documentaries to her name, including Spike Lee’s works on Hurricane Katrina and "For Neda," joins the class. Nevins has received 32 individual Emmy Awards throughout her career.
Also honored is Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix since 2020. Sarandos has played a pivotal role in guiding the company’s expansion into original programming since 2013, helping to reshape the entertainment landscape.
The inductees are scheduled to be formally enshrined on August 13, marking a celebration of their lasting contributions to television.
