The Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) has announced a temporary disruption to water services in several townships within the Yangon Region due to scheduled pipeline repairs. Maintenance work will begin at 9 a.m. on October 27 and is expected to conclude by 6 a.m. on October 28.

The repairs address a leak detected in a 1,200-millimeter diameter high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe located on Tabinshwehti Street adjacent to No. 3 Highway in Mingaladon Township. As a result, residents in Mingaladon, South Okkalapa, North Okkalapa, and Thingangyun townships may face reduced water pressure during the maintenance window. Additionally, townships including Thakayta, Dawbon, and Tamway are likely to experience both water outages and low water pressure.

Authorities have advised residents in the affected areas to store sufficient water in advance to mitigate inconvenience during the outage. The YCDC expressed regret for any disruption caused and emphasized that the maintenance is necessary to ensure water supply reliability.

Water for these townships is sourced daily from the Ngamoeyeik Water Treatment Plant located in Nyaunghnapin. This facility also supplies water to other localities such as Insein, Shwepyitha, Hlinethaya industrial zone, Shwe Paukkan, and Tamway townships. The maintenance aims to restore the integrity of the pipeline infrastructure serving these areas.
