A Texas man was found dead and two others remain missing following a flash flood in the Grand Canyon over the weekend. John Giusti, 46, from Granbury, Texas, was discovered on Sunday after sudden heavy rainfall caused the flood near the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park on Saturday.

Giusti, a chiropractor and father of three, was hiking with Brent Rosenkranz, 42, and Timothy Allen Smith, 53, both also from Texas. The group began their hike toward Bright Angel Campground on Friday and continued exploring the area on Saturday before the severe weather struck.

The flash flood resulted from intense rain showers that rapidly increased water levels in the canyon’s narrow drainage areas, creating hazardous conditions for those in the park. Emergency crews conducted search and rescue operations throughout Sunday and into Monday morning, but as of the latest reports, Rosenkranz and Smith remain unaccounted for.

Park authorities have cautioned visitors about the risks of flash flooding during the monsoon season, especially in regions prone to sudden heavy rainfall. Officials continue their efforts to locate the missing hikers and have advised all visitors to exercise extreme caution when trekking in the Grand Canyon area under adverse weather conditions.
