Thailand and Kuwait continue to maintain strong bilateral relations marked by mutual respect and cooperation, officials from both countries affirmed recently. Reflecting on historic ties, Thailand recalled the visit of the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Bangkok in June 2006 during celebrations for the 60th anniversary of King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s accession to the throne. This visit symbolizes the longstanding trust underpinning their relationship, which persists under the current leadership of King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklauchaewahua of Thailand and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of Kuwait.

Thailand remains a preferred destination for Kuwaiti citizens seeking healthcare and medical treatment, highlighting the confidence Kuwait places in Thailand’s healthcare system. In 2025, approximately six percent of Kuwaitis traveled to Thailand, drawn not only by medical services but also by the country’s cultural diversity, halal cuisine, and wide range of tourist attractions. The Thai hospitality sector expressed pride in catering to Muslim tourists, ensuring an environment that is both comfortable and welcoming.

The bilateral relationship also benefits from a significant human connection. Kuwait hosts around 1,080 Thai nationals who consider the country their second home, further strengthening the friendship between the two peoples. This exchange of residents adds a practical and personal dimension to diplomatic ties.

Looking ahead, Thailand reaffirmed its commitment to supporting and enhancing cooperation with Kuwait. Both countries aim to work collaboratively toward fulfilling Kuwait Vision 2035, a national framework focusing on economic diversification and sustainable development. Thailand’s role as a trusted partner is expected to contribute actively to these shared objectives through ongoing collaboration in various sectors, reinforcing their longstanding partnership.
