The Embassy of the Kingdom of Thailand in Kuwait has donated 100 books to the Kuwait National Library as part of an initiative to promote cultural exchange and strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. The event, held on October 31 in Kuwait City, highlighted the role of cultural understanding in fostering communication and mutual respect between the peoples of Kuwait and Thailand.

Chargé d’Affaires Oraiwan Korto emphasized that the donated collection aims to introduce readers in Kuwait to Thailand’s heritage, culture, and society. The books cover a range of subjects including Thai culture, arts, literature, and history, providing insights into the traditions and narratives that have shaped Thailand’s cultural identity. She noted that the project serves as a bridge between the two nations, reinforcing ties that have been built over 63 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1963.

The donation was made possible with support from the Thailand Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes friendship and engagement between Thailand and other countries. The collection will be housed in the Diplomacy Hall, a new section currently under development by the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) within the Kuwait National Library.

“Friendship between nations is not solely founded on government-to-government relations, but also on the understanding between peoples,” Korto said. “This understanding begins with learning about the history, culture, traditions, and way of life of others.”

Mohammad bin Redha, acting Assistant Secretary General for the Antiquities and Museums Sector at NCCAL, described the donation as a valuable intellectual and cultural contribution. He highlighted that the collection offers library patrons the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of Thailand’s history, literature, arts, and rich cultural heritage.

The initiative coincides with the 63rd anniversary of diplomatic ties between Kuwait and Thailand, marking a milestone in a relationship characterized by trust, respect, and mutual understanding over several decades. Organizers expressed hope that the books will further enhance cultural exchange and reinforce the longstanding friendship between the two nations.
