Thailand has emerged as the most affordable destination for solo travelers, according to recent analysis by an online travel comparison site. The research highlights that single travelers pay significantly less in certain Thai locations compared to many other popular international holiday spots.

Among the Thai destinations examined, Khao Lak was identified as the most budget-friendly for solo visitors. On average, single travelers spend about 21 percent more than couples, rather than double the cost as is often expected. A typical one-week trip to Khao Lak for a solo traveler is estimated to cost approximately £1,400, which is £245 more than the average per-person price paid by couples.

Following Khao Lak, Phuket ranked as the second most affordable, with solo travelers paying 23 percent more than those traveling in pairs. Other Thai destinations such as Pattaya and Bangkok also featured prominently, with single travelers facing increases of 36 and 37 percent respectively. This trend positions Thailand as a leading region for cost-effective solo travel options.

The analysis also indicated that long-haul destinations tend to be more economical for solo travelers when compared to closer European locations. Outside of Thailand, cities such as Dubai, Barbados, and Las Vegas were highlighted as other affordable choices.

For those considering European travel, the Bourgas region in Bulgaria emerged as the most accessible, with solo traveler costs about 30.6 percent higher than for couples. Athens, Greece, followed closely with a 32.7 percent increase for single visitors.

Overall, the data suggests that solo travelers may find better value in certain Asian and long-haul destinations, with Thailand standing out for its relatively modest price premiums for single occupancy accommodations and activities.
