Thane police have introduced new regulations governing the operation of bars, permit rooms, and related establishments across the district following recent drug overdose fatalities. Under the new guidelines, bars and permit rooms must close by 1:30 a.m., while outdoor events linked to these venues are required to conclude by 10 p.m.
The directive also mandates the installation of CCTV cameras at all entry and exit points, as well as in service areas and near bar counters to enhance surveillance. Additionally, establishments must prominently display anti-drug signage to raise awareness among patrons.
Security personnel employed by these venues must undergo police verification before being hired, as per the police instructions. Furthermore, organizers planning to bring foreign performers for events must notify local authorities at least 15 days in advance.
These measures aim to tighten control over nightlife establishments in Thane district to prevent further drug-related incidents and ensure greater safety for patrons.
