Wyatt and Fletcher Shears, the twin brothers behind the experimental punk duo the Garden, are marking 15 years of their distinctive musical collaboration with the release of their sixth album, "Bootleg." The Garden, formed in 2011, has built a reputation for blending diverse sounds—including electronic dance, industrial, and post-punk elements—while maintaining a unique and recognizable style.

Originating from Orange County, the brothers have transitioned from rebellious teenagers into established avant-garde musicians without losing the raw energy that defines their work. They view their longevity in the challenging music industry as a mark of resilience, describing aging not as a drawback but as a symbol of survival.

The Garden has cultivated a dedicated following by resisting conventional genre labels. They have performed at multiple Coachella festivals and are currently on tour with the Strokes. Despite their festival appearances and high-profile collaborations, the band values the intimacy of smaller venues where they can maintain a close connection with their audience.

In addition to their work as the Garden, both Wyatt and Fletcher pursue individual musical projects, with Fletcher also touring as drummer for British punk band the Adicts. The brothers emphasize that their creative drive remains fueled by inspiration, anger, and a commitment to continual learning.

“As long as we’re inspired, angry and willing to learn, we’ll keep making music,” Fletcher said. Wyatt echoed this sentiment, noting, “We’re still inspired. We still feel good. We’re still interested in hearing and making new music. Why stop just because we’re a little older?”

Their latest album, "Bootleg," showcases their ongoing evolution and willingness to experiment within and beyond punk traditions, underscoring their sustained relevance in a shifting musical landscape.
