The Aesop Women’s Library returned to Kuala Lumpur on September 19 and 20, offering readers an opportunity to explore a curated selection of books authored by women. Hosted at Aesop Suria KLCC, the event provided visitors with free access to a diverse range of literature spanning multiple languages, including English, Chinese, and Bahasa Malaysia, without requiring any purchase.

Now in its second year in Malaysia, the initiative showcased 25 titles under the theme “From Pulse To Page.” The collection brought together recommendations from local bookstores and publishers such as Gerakbudaya, Mentor Publishing, Buku Fixi, and Maya Press. The selected works covered a variety of genres, including mysteries, poetry, fiction, and food writing.

Featured titles included “Mona Ali Mysteries: The Case Of The Star Prefect” by Puteri Eleni, “Behind Frenemy Lines” by Zen Cho, “Malaysian Food Tales” by Afi Sulaiman, “Echoes Of Silence” by Chuah Guat Eng, and “Long Distance: Poems” by Shivani Sivagurunathan. Other notable entries were “People Who Pretend To Be Dead Don’t Wear Shoes” by Fang Ken, “I Fed My Kid To A Bird Of Prey: Poems For Overwhelmed Parents” by Mel Schmitz, “Kaki Lima” by Shih-Li Kow and Malek Hue, and “Yang Paling Patah Antara Kita” by Ainul Farihah.

The Aesop Women’s Library is a global program developed as part of Aesop’s broader literary engagement efforts. It aims to highlight the work of women authors to promote diverse voices and fresh perspectives within the literary community.

Since its launch in Malaysia in May 2023, the initiative has distributed thousands of books nationally. The Kuala Lumpur event continued this mission by inviting attendees to browse the selection freely and take home a complimentary book, fostering literary exploration without commercial barriers.
