In the opening 1,450-meter race, Steel Pier emerged as a strong contender following consecutive second-place finishes, signaling readiness to break through for a maiden win. Kwaito, stretching out over an extended trip, also remained a credible threat, with Elisa Mabii and Highveld newcomer Close Encounter among other runners to monitor.

The 2,000-meter second race featured Guerilla Warfare, who has demonstrated consistent form at higher levels and appeared well-suited to the distance. It-Snowornever, carrying a six-point penalty after a recent victory, faced a step up in class but remained competitive. Rosy Lemon and Ut-Saah also carried weights with a chance to challenge their male counterparts.

At 1,600 meters in the third race, Gallic Victor, narrowly beaten in prior Highveld outings, aimed to recapture winning form, while Sands of Valhalla, making his three-year-old debut with potential for improvement over the trip, was considered a significant threat. Top Floor, Knowmore, and Palace Attack, all with form and experience to make an impact, completed the key lineup.

The 1,450-meter fourth race highlighted Presso/Negardless, course- and distance-suited but conceding considerable weight to rivals. Kensal Green, a filly competitive even with penalties for recent wins, was viewed as a solid contender, alongside King Harald and Pretty Persuasive, both of whom showed form promising a competitive finish.

Race five, a 1,200-meter contest, featured a competitive three-year-old handicap. Gimme A Fireball attracted attention after a commanding maiden win as a juvenile, indicating potential for further progression. Kudikaran, with a strong Grade 1 juvenile record, was considered a safe option despite a less impressive recent comeback. Rivera and Bisou Bisou were also regarded as closely matched based on previous encounters.

The sixth race, also over 1,200 meters, included Status Symbol, who appeared capable of returning to form following a gelding operation and a wide barrier draw. Little Boy Blue, backed in his Highveld and stable debut but without success, could improve, while experienced runners Driveli-Keamaster and promising debut winner Reckless Abandon both warranted respect given their demonstrated potential.

In the 1,200-meter seventh race, The Last Duke looked to rebound after a below-par showing in a recent Listed event, benefitting from a two-point weight reduction. Precocious, the top-weight with a strong Highveld record, was expected to be competitive, though potentially better suited to shorter distances. Bright and Brazen, ideally suited to the course and distance, was also seen as a likely factor, with Pumpkin Pie and Never Never Land carrying five-point penalties as last-start winners but not to be discounted on their returns.

The final race over 1,450 meters spotlighted Hot Choice, who confirmed promise shown in a debut as a juvenile by winning decisively over 1,400 meters. With form that has since been reinforced by subsequent winners from that race, she is considered likely to improve further. Ubersmensch, having dropped to a competitive rating, and older filly Jack’s Legacy were also expected to contend, while Quevano and Fish Hawk could earn valuable stakes in the concluding event.
