Guiseley secured progression to the first round of the 2026 Emirates FA Cup with a decisive 3-0 victory over Leiston at The Vale on Saturday. The away side found their rhythm late in the first half, scoring three goals that effectively sealed the outcome before halftime.

Leiston started the match positively, creating early chances, including a cross from Cameron Rayworth and a delivery from Seb Dunbar, but both efforts failed to test Guiseley’s goalkeeper Jack Hall. Guiseley’s first notable attack came in the 16th minute when forward Jordan Thewlis penetrated the box but was met with strong defensive intervention from Rayworth.

As the game progressed, Guiseley gradually took control. Their opening goal arrived in the 32nd minute, when Elliot Owen headed home from a corner delivered by Harrison Hopper. Shortly after the second half began, Leiston’s captain Seb Dunbar was forced off with an injury, impacting the home side’s momentum.

Guiseley quickly capitalized, doubling their lead in the 38th minute with a close-range finish from Jordan Thewlis. Two minutes later, Jack Emmett extended the lead to 3-0 following a strong tackle by Kyle Callan-McFadden, who helped set up the move.

The second half was marked by Guiseley adopting a more defensive approach, preserving their lead. Leiston attempted to mount a comeback with substitutes Harvey Sayer and Adam Marriott pressing forward. Sayer drew a notable save from Hall late in the half, and Marriott’s potential goal was ruled out for offside in the 85th minute.

Despite a late surge, Leiston were unable to breach Guiseley’s defense, who ultimately earned a well-deserved victory and progression in the competition.
