A man has been sentenced to nearly four years in prison for stealing Pokémon cards valued at £62,000 from a gaming store in Warrington. Shane Johnson, 37, who has no fixed address, received a 45-month and four-week prison term at Birmingham Crown Court after pleading guilty to burglary with intent to steal, according to Cheshire Police.

Shane Johnson’s brother, Keith Johnson, 33, originally from Birmingham, was also convicted for his role in the crime. He was sentenced to 29 months in prison at the same court on July 2 after admitting to the same charges.

The Johnson brothers targeted Celestial Collectables, a shop known for specialising in rare and valuable cards. The theft occurred after the pair forcibly entered the premises by smashing a window, then proceeded to ransack the store.

Authorities confirmed the case highlights the ongoing challenges faced by retailers dealing in high-value collectible items. The investigation and prosecution were coordinated by Cheshire Police and the Crown Prosecution Service.
