KUWAIT CITY — The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health hosted the Third Cardiometabolic Networking Symposium on Saturday, aiming to enhance collaboration and knowledge sharing concerning cardiometabolic diseases within the country.
In his keynote address, Dr. Khaled Al-Mulla, a cardiology consultant and Head of the Sabah Al-Ahmad Cardiac Center at Al-Amiri Hospital, emphasized the importance of the event in bringing together healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers, and industry representatives. The symposium provided a platform to discuss strategies for improving the prevention and management of cardiometabolic conditions.
Dr. Al-Mulla highlighted that cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and related metabolic disorders continue to impose a significant health burden on Kuwaiti society. He noted that Kuwait, along with the broader Gulf region, contends with distinct challenges driven by rapid lifestyle changes, an aging population, and rising prevalence of diabetes and obesity.
The symposium underscored the urgent need for coordinated efforts to address these public health issues through enhanced communication, research collaboration, and policy development aimed at mitigating the impact of cardiometabolic diseases in Kuwait and the Gulf region.
