Authorities ordered the evacuation of roughly 90,000 residents in Reno, Nevada, and the surrounding North Valley region this week as a rapidly spreading wildfire approached the city. The blaze, known as the Hawk fire, ignited on Saturday and expanded to over 6,000 hectares by Monday morning.

Local officials reported no fatalities but confirmed at least six injuries, including three among first responders. Several residences situated on mountaintops have been destroyed during the fire’s progression. Shane Akerson, a fire battalion chief in Truckee Meadows, stated that investigations determined the wildfire was human-caused.
