Three children were taken to hospital after a school bus collided with a railway bridge in Newport on the morning of October 20. The incident occurred at approximately 7:45 a.m. on Tregare Street, prompting an emergency response from Gwent Police, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, and the Welsh Ambulance Service.

The double-decker bus sustained significant damage, with its roof partially torn off in the collision. Authorities established a cordon around the railway bridge, and the road remained closed for several hours. The closure lasted until after 11 a.m., when police officers lifted the cordon and reopened the area to traffic.

According to a spokesperson for Gwent Police, three children were injured and taken to hospital for medical treatment. Their injuries were described as not life-threatening. Road closures at the scene led to diversions being put in place for motorists.

The collision also affected rail services in the area. Train operations were temporarily suspended until the affected line was reopened. However, Cross Country Trains cautioned that some services might still experience ongoing cancellations or delays following the incident. Investigations into the crash are ongoing as authorities assess the circumstances surrounding the event.
