Oklahoma City Thunder guard Jalen Williams will undergo surgery to repair a broken left fibula and a dislocated left ankle, the team announced Monday. The injury occurred Sunday during the Thunder’s 108-101 home victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.

Williams was hurt on a drive to the basket with 1:14 remaining in the game. Medical staff responded immediately, and the game was paused for approximately five minutes while Williams was attended to and eventually taken off the court on a stretcher. The severity of the injury was evident as players from both teams showed concern.

General manager Sam Presti stated that no recovery timetable will be established until after Williams has surgery. However, given the nature of the injuries, it is expected that the guard could miss the remainder of the season. Williams, a former All-Star and All-NBA selection, has been integral to the Thunder’s recent success, averaging 17.9 points over 251 games in his first five NBA seasons. He was a key contributor to the Thunder’s 2025 NBA championship and their run to the Western Conference finals in 2026.

Adding to the team’s injury woes, forward Cason Wallace also requires surgery after sustaining a left labral tear during the same game. Like Williams, Wallace’s timeline for return will depend on the outcome of his procedure and subsequent rehabilitation, which is expected to take several months.

The Thunder have faced a string of injury challenges in recent seasons, and these latest developments pose further setbacks to the franchise’s ambitions for the current campaign. The team will assess both players’ recoveries and provide updates as they become available.
