Tilbury secured a 2-0 victory over Takeley in their Division 1 North match on Sunday, with goals from Soumen Nandi and Issa Sidibe sealing the win at the home ground.
The hosts showed early promise, with Nandi creating several opportunities in the first half. Within the opening 15 minutes, Nandi’s skillful play set up Sidibe, whose initial effort narrowly missed the target. Sidibe continued to pose a threat, forcing Takeley's goalkeeper Jarvis Monk into a remarkable save in the second half, when he blocked a strike with his face to keep the score level.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 67th minute. Charlie Stimson played a key role by delivering a precise pass back to Nandi at the edge of the penalty area. Nandi responded with a powerful shot that found the back of the net, putting Tilbury ahead. Shortly after, Sidibe secured the second goal for the Dockers by breaking through the defense and calmly finishing past the goalkeeper, effectively putting the game out of reach for Takeley.
Jake Brocklebank was named star man for Tilbury, contributing solidly to the team's overall performance. The victory improved Tilbury’s standing in the league, while Takeley was unable to find a way back into the match despite several determined efforts.
