Russell T Davies, the acclaimed showrunner behind the 2021 drama *It’s a Sin*, returns with a new series titled *Tip Toe*, which delves into the recent surge of homophobic rhetoric and the process of radicalisation. The drama, set in Manchester’s Canal Street, a noted gay district, explores the complexities of changing personal and social dynamics through the lens of a tense neighbourly relationship.
The series centers on Leo, a bar owner portrayed by Alan Cumming, and his longtime neighbour Clive, played by David Morrissey. For over ten years, the two have maintained a friendly rapport, but a series of unsettling events triggers a significant and irreversible shift in their relationship. Pooky Quesnel takes on the role of Clive’s wife, Marie, while Elizabeth Berrington appears as Stephanie, Leo’s close friend.
Described by Davies as a “suburban thriller,” *Tip Toe* begins with Leo suspecting that someone has entered his home without permission. Meanwhile, Clive embarks on a renovation project at Leo’s bar. The involvement of Clive’s son, Saul, further complicates matters when Saul gains recognition, setting off a chain of developments that culminate in a dramatic and unexpected conclusion.
*Tip Toe* premiered on Channel 4 at 9 p.m., continuing Davies’s exploration of challenging social themes within intimate and character-driven storytelling.
