Defensive tackle Jordan Elliott was released by the Tennessee Titans following an incident involving a firearm at the team's practice facility on October 15. The team confirmed the decision on Wednesday, with head coach Robert Saleh describing the episode as a “lapse in judgment” and framing it as a call for help rather than a criminal act.

According to reports, Elliott had a gun in his vehicle inside the team’s parking lot after he was dismissed from practice following an altercation with teammate tackle JC Latham. Latham characterized the disagreement as "minor" and credited defensive end John Franklin-Myers for intervening as Elliott headed toward his car. The incident occurred during the Titans’ preparations for their Week 6 game.

The National Football League (NFL) maintains a strict policy against firearms on team premises. The Titans promptly informed the league about the situation and have been in continued communication with NFL officials as the matter remains under review. It has not been disclosed whether the Titans filed a police report regarding the incident.

Elliott, 28, joined Tennessee in the 2026 offseason under a two-year, $8 million contract as a free agent. He previously spent the 2024 and 2025 seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and was originally drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. This season, he appeared in five games, including a start in the Week 2 defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles, accumulating 11 tackles before being inactive for the Week 6 win over the Indianapolis Colts, which occurred three days after the firearm incident.

The Titans have declined to provide further comments on Elliott’s release, and the NFL has not issued additional statements beyond confirming ongoing communication with the team.
