The Gold Coast Titans have strengthened their playmaking options by signing emerging halfback Luke Hanson from the New Zealand Warriors on a two-year contract beginning in 2027. Hanson, 22, made his National Rugby League (NRL) debut earlier this season after two strong years playing in the New South Wales (NSW) Cup.

Titans coach Josh Hannay highlighted Hanson’s work ethic and athleticism as key factors in the recruitment. He noted that Hanson has shown maturity beyond his years while developing through the Penrith Panthers system and contributing to the Warriors’ recent successes, including their NSW Cup and NRL State Championship victories last year. Hannay expressed confidence that the Titans' environment would support Hanson’s continued growth.

In addition to Hanson’s signing, the Titans have seen their young talent gain recognition at the representative level. Rising halfback Zane Harrison, a teammate of Hanson’s at the Titans, was invited to train with the New South Wales Blues squad ahead of the upcoming State of Origin series decider scheduled for Wednesday at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. Harrison, who has been regarded as a promising understudy to Blues star Nathan Cleary, joined the Blues camp in northern New South Wales alongside fellow Titans player Klese Haas. Their inclusion offers them exposure to the high-performance environment of the Origin series.

The additions of Hanson and the development of players like Harrison reflect the Titans’ commitment to building depth in their halves department as they prepare for future campaigns. Hanson’s arrival is expected to increase competition for playmaking roles within the team, with the club aiming to foster a strong, competitive squad moving forward.
