As destination weddings grow increasingly elaborate, more couples are employing dedicated guest concierges to ease travel logistics, manage on-site requests, and enhance the overall experience for attendees. This trend reflects a shift toward prioritizing guest comfort and hospitality alongside traditional wedding planning.

Lauren Perillo and Evan Brown, both 28 and based in Houston, enlisted a concierge for their January 2023 wedding at Rosewood Mayakoba in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Aware of the challenges their 120 guests faced in traveling abroad, they partnered with Stephanie Meckert, a travel adviser from River Oaks Travel, to assist with a wide range of needs. Meckert helped coordinate flights, airport transfers, hotel arrangements, and advised on travel requirements. She also organized local excursions, dining reservations, spa treatments, and post-wedding trips within Mexico.

Perillo noted that the concierge’s involvement made guests’ experiences “relaxing, enjoyable and convenient,” a sentiment echoed by attendees such as Lisa Santasiero, who cited help with appointments and last-minute clothing repairs. While Perillo and Brown did not disclose their concierge fee, Meckert’s services typically begin at approximately $6,000, with some concierges charging significantly more depending on scale and location.

The use of guest concierges extends beyond destination weddings to some local events, evidence suggests. Donna Perillo, a Houston-based wedding planner and mother of the bride, indicated that half of the weddings she arranged locally and almost all destination weddings included concierge services, a notable increase from three years prior.

In Europe, similar practices are becoming standard in upscale celebrations. Vivian ter Huurne, founder of Dutch wedding planning firm Invyaya, incorporates guest concierges into every event. Her fees, which start at $23,000, include personalized guest itineraries, bilingual guides, and curated activities, designed to foster connections among attendees and streamline logistics. Her clients have hosted multi-day weddings with complex travel arrangements, such as a November 2024 celebration for 60 guests across several sites in Morocco. The concierge team managed airport receptions, last-minute itinerary amendments, and diverse activities ranging from stargazing to hot air ballooning.

Guests like nonprofit manager Colette Seidel described the concierge’s role as anticipating and resolving needs seamlessly, contributing significantly to their enjoyment. Industry observers note that as couples increasingly focus on guest experience, concierge services offer a way to deliver enhanced hospitality, reflecting a broader shift in wedding planning priorities.
