Actor Tom Hiddleston has been announced as the lead presenter for a new investigation into the ancient Pompeii tragedy. The project, titled *Pompeii: Out Of Time*, combines elements of a scripted drama with documentary storytelling. It is set to premiere on Disney+ and National Geographic on July 23.

Hiddleston, known for his role in *The Night Manager*, described the opportunity to front the series as an “honour.” The program aims to offer viewers a detailed exploration of the devastating eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79, which buried the Roman city of Pompeii under volcanic ash.

The hybrid format seeks to engage audiences by blending dramatic reenactments with scientific analysis and expert interviews, providing a comprehensive look at the events that led to the catastrophe and its aftermath. The series intends to shed new light on one of history’s most famous natural disasters through modern archaeological insights and narrative storytelling.

By revisiting this ancient tragedy, the production hopes to deepen public understanding of the historical, geological, and cultural impact of Pompeii’s destruction. *Pompeii: Out Of Time* represents a collaborative effort between Disney+ and National Geographic to deliver educational content that is both visually compelling and informative.
