Former Premier League manager Tony Pulis has called on Everton supporters to exercise patience as David Moyes continues his efforts to rebuild the club. Pulis, who previously managed Stoke City, Crystal Palace, and West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League, emphasized the challenges Moyes faces given Everton’s current financial and competitive landscape.

Moyes returned to Everton midway through the 2024/25 season when the club was only one point above the relegation zone. He successfully guided the team to safety with five games remaining. This marked his second spell at Goodison Park, where he previously secured nine top-eight finishes and managed more league games than all but Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger.

Pulis acknowledged Everton’s status as a major club with high expectations but noted significant financial constraints that limit Moyes’ capacity to compete with city rivals Liverpool and spending powerhouses like Chelsea. “The supporters expect Everton to be up in that top four or five, but the expectations there just outweigh what they can achieve at the moment,” Pulis said, urging fans to temper their ambitions in line with the club’s current resources.

Highlighting Moyes’ recent recruitment, Pulis praised the signing of Danish midfielder Christian Norgaard, describing him as a “fantastic professional” who will greatly assist the team’s development. Despite some fan skepticism surrounding Norgaard’s acquisition, Pulis stressed the importance of allowing Moyes to implement his vision gradually.

“It’s not going to happen instantly with the situation they’re in,” Pulis added. “They’ve got to understand that and give him time to build a team.”

As Everton navigates a period of rebuilding and financial prudence, Pulis’ remarks underscore the broader challenges facing the club and the necessity of long-term planning over immediate results.
