Top jiu-jitsu clubs and academies across the United Arab Emirates will gather in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, October 24, to compete for the Jiu-Jitsu President’s Cup at the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy. The event, organized by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, will showcase athletes in both adult and under-21 categories.

Al-Wahda Jiu-Jitsu Club, the reigning champion since December 2025, will face strong challenges from rivals including Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club and Al-Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club. The competition is widely regarded as a premier domestic event in the UAE’s growing jiu-jitsu scene.

Mohamed Salem Al-Dhaheri, vice chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, emphasized the significance of the championship within the national jiu-jitsu framework. He credited the support of the UAE’s leadership for the event’s prominence and noted that the tournament reflects the progress made by clubs and academies in identifying and cultivating talent.

“The championship tests the quality of the athletes’ preparation throughout the season and helps them ready themselves for competing at the highest international levels,” Al-Dhaheri said. He added that the strength of the domestic competition is fundamental to the success of the UAE’s national team in continental and world championships.

Al-Dhaheri also highlighted ongoing efforts to raise standards in domestic competitions, underscoring the role of clubs and coaches in nurturing athletes’ development as a foundation for international achievement.

Representing defending champions Al-Wahda, athlete Saif Jumaan described the title as a source of motivation and a significant responsibility. “Defending it drives us to work harder. To win again, we must maintain full focus against opponents who are well prepared and determined to challenge us,” he said.

Jumaan acknowledged that last season’s victory provides confidence but cautioned against complacency. “Every club is preparing seriously to contend for the trophy. We aim to demonstrate our readiness and prove ourselves in every match,” he added.

The Jiu-Jitsu President’s Cup continues to serve as an important platform for elite competition within the UAE, contributing to the development of athletes who represent the country in global tournaments.
