Hospitals in Southern California saw a rise in net patient revenue in 2025, according to recent data from the California Department of Health Care Services. The 50 largest hospitals in the region generated a combined $56.2 billion, an increase from $54.4 billion in 2024, while operating a total of 21,893 licensed beds across five counties.

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles remained the largest hospital by net patient revenue in Southern California, reporting $4.59 billion for 2025. The non-profit academic medical center is licensed for 919 beds and continues to serve as a major provider for the region.

In Orange County, the University of California Irvine Medical Center in the city of Orange led the market with $3.1 billion in net patient revenue. This facility is the primary teaching hospital for the UC Irvine School of Medicine and the flagship site for the health system, which encompasses 1,461 licensed beds.

Kaiser Permanente, which operates 11 hospitals in Southern California, collectively generated $9.2 billion in net patient revenue in 2025. These facilities account for 3,789 licensed beds. Kaiser Permanente’s largest hospital in the region is located in Fontana, with 664 beds and $1.6 billion in net patient revenue for the year.

The hospitals included in the ranking span five counties: Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Ventura. The report provides insight into the scale and financial performance of major healthcare providers across these diverse Southern California communities.
