Torquay United began the contest with early attacking intent. Just two minutes into the match, a promising move saw Harry Shield deliver a cross to Isaac Westendorf, whose shot went over the goal. The visitors found the breakthrough in the 13th minute when Deon Moore scored from a tight angle, capitalizing on a play that eluded Horsham’s goalkeeper Sam Howes.

The second half saw Torquay United maintain their momentum, notably when Westendorf headed a cross from captain Matt Worthington straight into Howes’s hands shortly after the restart.
