Kuwait City traffic officers have detained three expatriates for illegally transporting passengers, authorities reported on May 17. The arrests occurred within a 24-hour period as part of an intensified crackdown aimed at enforcing traffic regulations related to unauthorized passenger transport.

A security source indicated that individuals caught using vehicles to ferry passengers for hire without the appropriate permits face significant penalties. If the fine is paid promptly through an amicable settlement, the amount is KD150. However, cases escalated to the courts carry harsher consequences, including imprisonment ranging from one to three years and fines between KD600 and KD1,000.

Following the arrests, the vehicles used in the unauthorized transport were impounded. The individuals involved were handed over to the traffic police for further legal processing. This enforcement effort reflects ongoing measures to regulate transport services and ensure compliance with safety and licensing requirements in Kuwait.
