Trainer John Gosden is reconsidering plans for Bud’s Bid, a multiple Group 1 winner owned by Godolphin, to potentially run in the Champion Stakes at British Champions Day. Initially, Gosden had intended for the five-year-old to bypass the British event and proceed directly to the Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland later next month following a fourth-place finish in the Juddmonte International.

However, current weather conditions, characterized by a dry spell and the likelihood of firm ground at Ascot in just over three weeks, have influenced a possible change in strategy. Gosden remarked that Bud’s Bid is in excellent condition and that the prospect of favorable ground could make the Champion Stakes a viable target.

He added that if wetter weather were to arrive, the original plan of traveling straight to the Breeders’ Cup would be maintained. The trainer’s remarks underscore a flexible approach, with ground conditions playing a pivotal role in finalizing Bud’s Bid’s autumn schedule.
