Security staff at Aberdeen Airport are set to strike for a total of 14 days over a pay dispute, raising concerns about significant travel disruption during the upcoming holiday season. The walkout, initiated by Unite union members, is scheduled to begin on Monday and will extend across this month and next.

The strike action involves baggage screening workers employed by ICTS HBS Security, who form the majority of the airport’s security team. Union representatives said the industrial action follows the company’s refusal to offer a pay increase deemed acceptable by the workers. Efforts at negotiation, including talks facilitated by the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (Acas), have so far failed to resolve the dispute.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham criticized ICTS, characterizing the firm as prioritizing profits over its employees. The parent company, ICTS (UK) Limited, reportedly showed a rise in profits from £4.4 million to £7.6 million in 2025. Unite’s regional officer Paula Buchan expressed frustration, accusing the company of preferring to create disruption rather than settle the disagreement.

Airport management has been contacted for comment but had not issued a statement as of this report.

Travelers using Aberdeen Airport during this period should prepare for potential delays and disruptions linked to the strike by security personnel responsible for baggage screening.
