Theo Burrell, a respected ceramics and glass expert known for her work on the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow, has died after a battle with a brain tumour. Burrell, who was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, in 2022, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.

Born in Edinburgh, Burrell joined the popular antiques program in 2018 and quickly became a familiar face to viewers. Following her diagnosis, she dedicated herself to raising awareness and funds for brain cancer research, successfully raising tens of thousands of pounds. She also served as a patron of Brain Tumour Research, advocating for greater understanding and support for patients affected by the disease.

A statement posted on Burrell’s Instagram account described her as “an incredible person who fought hard for her family, friends and raising awareness of this cruel disease.” She is survived by her husband, Alex, whom she married in April of this year, and their five-year-old son, Jonah.

In addition to Burrell, tributes have been paid to several other notable figures who recently passed away. Bill Oddie, an actor and television presenter born in 1941, died on July 25 at the age of 85. Ken Bates, a football club owner known for his impact on English football, died on July 11 at age 94. Brian Banks, a regular contributor to the Express letters page, passed away on July 9, aged 85.
