Gainsborough Trinity extended their unbeaten run to four games with a commanding 4-0 victory over Hyde on Saturday, moving up to fourth place in the standings. The match, played at Gainsborough’s home ground, saw Trinity continue their prolific scoring form, netting 15 goals across their opening four fixtures.

Trinity took an early lead within the first 80 seconds when midfielder Jordan Helliwell capitalized on a misplaced pass from Hyde defender Kevin Joshua. Helliwell’s composed right-footed finish from the edge of the penalty area left Hyde goalkeeper Jordan Eastham with no chance.

Despite trailing, Hyde controlled much of the first half possession but were unable to create significant scoring opportunities, with Gainsborough goalkeeper David Robson remaining largely untroubled.

The visitors came out with renewed vigor after halftime, doubling their advantage when Ash Jackson’s cut-back found forward Fraser Preston, who squeezed the ball home to mark his seventh goal of the season.

Hyde striker Charlie Stewart tested the crossbar with a close-range effort, but Gainsborough quickly reasserted their dominance. Frank Mulhern’s flick-on put Preston into space, whose subsequent cut-back found Ronnie Kokkinos. Kokkinos delivered a precise finish into the far corner to put Trinity well in control.

Hyde’s best chance came when Edy Maieco failed to connect cleanly on a promising opportunity. In stoppage time, substitute Connor Brown sealed the victory by scoring from close range after a clever interplay with fellow substitute Ben Blythe, finishing through a crowded penalty area.

The result highlights Gainsborough Trinity’s strong start to the season and their continued offensive threat, while Hyde face mounting pressure to improve their fortunes after a second consecutive defeat.
