Mike Trout returned from a 17-game absence due to a strained right hamstring and contributed a two-run home run as the Los Angeles Angels defeated the Texas Rangers 13-1 on Wednesday. Trout’s homer, a 438-foot shot in the eighth inning, extended the Angels’ lead to 11-0 and marked his 48th career home run against the Rangers, the most by any player since the franchise’s relocation to Texas in 1972. Only Reggie Jackson, with 54 homers against the Washington Senators/Texas Rangers, holds more against the club.

Jo Adell had a standout performance with two home runs and a career-high five RBIs. He hit a two-run shot in the fourth inning and a three-run homer in the fifth, helping push the Angels’ lead to 7-0. Vaughn Grissom went 4-for-5 at the plate, including a double and four RBIs, while Zach Neto added three hits in four at-bats, including two doubles, and scored three runs. Denzer Guzman and Jose Siri each recorded two hits.

Starting pitcher Walbert Ureña delivered four scoreless innings, throwing 90 pitches with five walks before being replaced by rookie left-hander Samy Natera Jr. Natera pitched two perfect innings, striking out five, and earned his first career win.

For the Rangers, MacKenzie Gore took the mound but struggled, allowing seven runs and nine hits with seven strikeouts over five innings. Texas’ only home run came in the ninth inning from pinch-hitter Kyle Higashioka. In a rare pitching appearance, Higashioka—primarily a catcher—pitched the ninth inning and surrendered two runs. This marked his second career outing on the mound, having previously allowed two runs in a 12-2 loss to Minnesota on June 16.

The Angels dominated early, with Neto doubling to lead off the game and later scoring on Grissom’s single off Gore, setting the tone for a lopsided victory at Angel Stadium.
