Over a violent weekend in Chicago, at least five people were killed and 22 others injured in multiple shootings across the city, authorities reported. The incidents have drawn criticism from former President Donald Trump, who faulted Illinois Governor JB Pritzker for failing to address the escalating violence.

The bloodshed began Friday night with a drive-by shooting in the Princeton Park neighborhood on the South Side. Around 11 p.m., two gunmen in a red SUV opened fire on a crowd celebrating Juneteenth, injuring at least 12 individuals, according to Chicago police. The suspects remained at large as of Sunday morning.

Later that evening, a 29-year-old man was fatally shot in West Pullman during another drive-by incident that also left an elderly bystander wounded. Additionally, three men aged 33, 34, and 50 were killed in separate shootings across the city on Friday night.

The violence continued into early Saturday, when a 37-year-old man died after being shot in the neck in the Bridgeport neighborhood.

In response to the weekend's violence, Trump sharply criticized Governor Pritzker, accusing him of failing to enact effective measures to curb the city's gun violence. Details of any official response from Pritzker’s office were not immediately available.

Chicago has faced ongoing challenges with gun violence, and this weekend's incidents underscore concerns about public safety in the city. Law enforcement officials have reiterated efforts to investigate the shootings and increase patrols in affected neighborhoods.
