In contrast, Trump said of James, "maybe he's a racist, but maybe he doesn't like Trump. I don't know. I only like people that like me, so I would say Michael Jordan all the way." Trump did not provide further explanation for his use of the term "racist" in reference to James.
LeBron James, who recently announced he will join the Philadelphia 76ers for the upcoming NBA season, is a four-time NBA champion and has won the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player award multiple times. Trump responded a year later with a tweet mocking James for an interview with CNN’s Don Lemon, calling Lemon “the dumbest man on television” and suggesting James appeared intelligent only by comparison.
