President Donald Trump on Sunday shared an altered image depicting former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama standing next to an Air Force One aircraft covered in graffiti. The image, posted on social media, showed the Obamas waving beside a baby blue and white presidential plane spray-painted with phrases including the Democratic campaign slogan “Yes We Can,” “Obama,” “BLM” referring to Black Lives Matter, and Arabic script reading “alhamdulillah,” meaning “praise be to God” or “thank God.”

The graffiti imagery carries connotations linked to crime and urban decline and has historically been employed in racially charged messaging targeting Black communities. This post follows an earlier controversial depiction by Trump months ago that portrayed the Obamas as primates in a jungle, which was removed after widespread bipartisan criticism.

The timing of the image drew attention as it closely followed Trump’s inaugural flight on his new Air Force One last week. The updated Boeing 747-800, valued at approximately $400 million and provided by Qatar, replaces the traditional baby blue paint scheme—which helped the aircraft blend into the sky—with a navy-blue underbelly accented by red and gold stripes, reflecting Trump’s personal preferences.

After delivering a speech on the National Mall commemorating Independence Day and the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence on Saturday evening, Trump spent Sunday at his Virginia golf club ahead of his scheduled departure to Turkey on Monday. The trip is planned for a NATO summit involving the U.S. president and international allies.

Requests for comment from the White House and spokespeople for the Obamas were not immediately returned. Sunday’s post also came weeks after Trump shared another altered photo related to Obama’s new presidential library in Chicago, continuing a pattern of circulating doctored images involving the former president.
