GENTING HIGHLANDS — Brothers Tsen Ren Han and Tsen Ren Bao delivered an impressive performance during the queen stage of the 30th Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) on Monday, completing the challenging route from Tapah to Genting Highlands together at the summit.
Ren Han, 19, competing for the Malaysian national team in his LTdL debut, finished the stage with a time of 3 hours, 16 minutes, and 58 seconds, securing 29th place overall and outperforming his elder brother. Ren Bao, 23, from St George Continental Cycling Team, had been the top Malaysian rider in Stage 4 but was bested this time by Ren Han. Despite their rivalry on paper, Ren Han emphasized there was no sibling competition. “I didn’t beat him. It was just a good day for me,” he said.
Both brothers are currently among the leading Asian riders in the classification standings. Ren Bao is second with a cumulative time of 19 hours, 9 minutes, and 38 seconds, just under four seconds behind leader Yuhi Todome of Aisan Racing. Ren Han holds third place at 19 hours, 11 minutes, and 19 seconds.
Known for their climbing abilities, the brothers described the 1,629-meter Hors Category ascent as a tough challenge. Ren Han called the climb “brutal” and expressed relief at its completion. He also noted his intention to assist Ren Bao’s bid for a strong overall finish in the remaining three stages. “He’s a bit too far ahead, so I just need to help him get the best general classification time,” Ren Han said.
Adding to their motivation during the climb was the surprise appearance of their sister, who traveled from Melbourne to watch them race. “I didn’t expect to see her. It was nice to have her see us both finish together,” Ren Han remarked.
For Ren Bao, trailing behind his younger brother in this stage was a proud moment, especially given Ren Han’s debut presence at the event. The brothers’ strong showing highlights their potential as rising talents in Malaysian cycling and adds an emotional dimension to their pursuit in the prestigious multi-stage race in Malaysia.
