Kuwait authorities have recently detained a Turkish national on two separate occasions in connection with the possession and attempted smuggling of controlled substances.

Customs officials at Terminal 5 of Kuwait International Airport intercepted the individual while attempting to bring in a concealed cache of psychotropic medications. During a thorough inspection, officers discovered 93 Lyrica pills and 99 Tramadol pills hidden within nutritional supplement containers. Both Lyrica and Tramadol are categorized as controlled substances under Kuwait law. Following the seizure, the individual and the confiscated drugs were referred to the Drug Control General Department to proceed with legal measures. The General Administration of Customs emphasized its ongoing commitment to enforcing strict control measures at all points of entry to prevent narcotics smuggling and protect national safety.

In a related incident, the General Department of Criminal Investigation arrested the same Turkish citizen on allegations of possessing abortion pills intended for distribution and sale. The Ministry of Interior stated that the arrest in Abu Fatira followed intelligence indicating the suspect's involvement in trafficking the controlled medication. At the time of arrest, seven pills were recovered from the individual. A subsequent search of his residence in Fintas uncovered an additional 98 abortion pills.

Authorities underscored that these arrests form part of broader security operations aimed at combating illegal drug distribution and other criminal activities. Legal proceedings against the suspect are ongoing as officials continue their efforts to uphold public health regulations and enforce the country’s drug control laws.
