The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has expressed strong support for national team coach Vincenzo Montella and the players following their premature elimination from the World Cup. Federation president Ibrahim Haciosmanoglu emphasized the importance of continuity, rejecting calls for major changes within the squad or coaching staff.

Montella, who took charge of the team in 2023, successfully guided Turkey to the World Cup for the first time since 2002. Despite the early exit, Haciosmanoglu insisted that dismantling the current setup would be counterproductive, highlighting that club teams often falter due to frequent personnel upheavals.

“We will stand by the coach of this team as well as the players,” Haciosmanoglu said. He cautioned against replacing the coach or chairman and said that loyalty to the current squad was crucial for future success. “You can’t just send 15 players away and bring in 15 new ones,” he added.

The federation head further stressed that the Turkish public would continue to support both Montella and the players, expressing confidence that the current team would deliver strong performances going forward. “We will never swap those with whom we have travelled this path for others we meet along the way,” Haciosmanoglu stated.

The TFF’s stance contrasts with sentiments often expressed after disappointing tournament outcomes, where coaching and roster changes are common. Instead, the federation appears committed to a strategy of stability as it looks to build on Turkey’s return to the World Cup stage.
