Two men died in separate incidents after being pulled from the ocean along the New South Wales northern and mid-north coasts over the weekend.

The first incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at Cabarita Beach, located approximately 19 kilometers south of Tweed Heads. Surfers discovered an unresponsive swimmer in the water and attempted to administer first aid before police arrived. Paramedics transported the man to Tweed Valley Hospital, where he later died. Authorities have not yet formally identified the man but said he is believed to be in his 50s.

The second incident took place about 1:45 p.m. on Sunday at Saltwater Beach, roughly 18 kilometers southeast of Taree. Three men in their 20s encountered difficulties in the water and were rescued by police and surf lifesavers. Emergency medical personnel treated all three on-site; however, one of the men could not be revived. The other two were taken to Manning Base Hospital for further care.

Police are investigating both deaths and will prepare coronial reports to determine the circumstances surrounding the incidents.
