At least two people were killed in a shooting that occurred late Friday evening during a private party in Northridge, California. The incident took place shortly after 11 p.m. in the 18000 block of Nordhoff Street, less than a mile from California State University, Northridge, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
Responding officers found two deceased individuals, a man and a woman both estimated to be between 18 and 25 years old, at the scene. Although police received reports suggesting there might be a third victim, investigators had not located a third body as of Saturday morning. No other injuries have been reported.
The shooting happened at the Artist Lounge, a venue located on the second floor of a strip mall. Police moved to clear the event shortly after arriving. Over 100 party attendees were escorted out of the building and questioned individually. Some were detained temporarily and placed in zip ties in the parking lot during the investigation. Many attendees appeared to be minors, and several were picked up by their parents later in the evening.
The Artist Lounge did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Authorities have not made any arrests in connection with the shooting as of Saturday.
Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident and are working to identify the motive and any suspects involved. The LAPD has asked anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.
