The Department of Health-Abu Dhabi has revoked the licence of one physician and suspended another following violations related to the handling of controlled medications, the authority announced on Wednesday. The enforcement action came after investigations revealed deficiencies in clinical assessments, patient follow-up, and medical documentation, including insufficient justification for prescribing controlled drugs.

These breaches were identified through coordinated inspections and ongoing monitoring efforts by relevant regulatory bodies, enhanced by the department’s digital and intelligent surveillance systems. The health regulator emphasized that adherence to regulations concerning controlled medications is critical due to the significant risks they pose to patient safety.

The department highlighted that this latest action is part of its broader initiative to promote patient protection, enforce medical regulations, and reinforce accountability within the health care sector across the emirate. It also pledged to continue expanding its digital monitoring capabilities and intensify inspections to detect and address similar violations promptly.

Health care professionals and medical facilities were urged to strictly comply with prescribing guidelines and maintain thorough clinical evaluations, accurate medical records, and appropriate patient follow-up procedures. The public was further encouraged to report any suspected violations via the department’s official communication channels.

This move follows a previous enforcement in August 2025, when six doctors in Abu Dhabi were suspended for infractions related to controlled medication regulations. The Department of Health reiterated that such actions are necessary to uphold the integrity of healthcare provision and ensure patient well-being within the emirate.
