Two expatriates were killed and two others injured in a drone attack targeting a Saudi Aramco facility at the Shaybah oil field in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province on Wednesday morning, the Ministry of Energy reported.

According to an official source at the ministry, Saudi air defenses intercepted a drone attempting to strike one of the oil field’s processing facilities. The attack triggered a fire in a vehicle belonging to a contractor working outside the facility’s perimeter but did not affect the operational activities of the oil field.

The ministry confirmed that the two fatalities were expatriates—a Filipino and a Nepali national. Two other workers, identified as a Pakistani and an Indian, sustained injuries in the incident. Authorities responded promptly to the attack and implemented the necessary safety measures.

The Ministry of Energy expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a full recovery to those injured. The nature of the drone operation and potential perpetrators were not disclosed.
