Two luxury mansions located across the street from one another in Hinsdale sold in August for nearly $7 million each, underscoring sustained demand for high-end homes in the village’s core area. While neither transaction surpassed Hinsdale’s record home sale of $7.67 million set in 2021, both prices remain near the top of the local market.
The larger of the two properties, situated on a 0.75-acre lot, changed hands on August 10 for $6.99 million in cash. The buyer was an opaque land trust with an undisclosed beneficiary. Constructed in 2018 by Kenna Builders and designed by architect Richard Olsen, the three-story, five-bedroom stone mansion features between 7,400 and 10,800 square feet depending on the source. The home includes six full bathrooms and two half-baths, three fireplaces, Watson Smith hardwood floors, high-end cabinetry from O’Brien Harris, and a slate roof. Amenities also include an oversized kitchen island with professional-grade appliances, a sunroom, prep kitchen, butler’s pantry, private office, children’s workspace, elevator, and a primary bedroom suite complete with a fireplace and dressing room. The walkout lower level houses a golf and sports simulator, a recreation lounge, a fitness studio, and an indoor pool. The professionally landscaped grounds contain an outdoor lounge and a heated three-car garage. The property’s 2025 tax bill was $86,230.
Just to the south, a second mansion on a 0.58-acre corner lot sold on August 18 for $6.8 million, also to a land trust whose beneficiary is not publicly known. This newer home, built in 2022, was initially listed in February through a private agents-only network for $7.299 million. According to township records, it offers 5,736 square feet of above-ground living space and another 3,143 square feet below ground. The five-bedroom residence has seven bathrooms and notable architectural details such as barrel and beam ceilings, stone and limestone walls, and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows. Its kitchen features custom walnut cabinetry with hammered brass hardware, a sculptural marble range hood, and an adjoining scullery. Outdoor amenities include a bluestone patio, built-in fire pit, swimming pool, and hot tub. Public records note an additional $200,000 spent on personal property, typically referring to furniture or fixtures. The property tax for 2025 was $73,165.
Both sales were facilitated by real estate agent Dawn McKenna and her team, who represented the buyers and sellers in each transaction. McKenna did not respond to a request for comment. The two estates are located on a brick-paved street just east of downtown Hinsdale.
