Two people died and four others were seriously injured in a collision involving a pick-up truck that struck pedestrians and two vehicles in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, on Sunday morning.

The crash occurred around 11 a.m. near the Lakeside Village outlet shopping centre. According to police, a black Mitsubishi L200, driven by a 30-year-old man suspected of being under the influence of drugs, first hit a group of four pedestrians. Following that, the vehicle collided with a black Audi and a silver BMW traveling in the opposite direction. Authorities stated that there was no indication the Mitsubishi was driving on the wrong side of the road.

Emergency services, including ambulance and air ambulance teams, responded promptly. Despite efforts by medical personnel, two pedestrians were declared dead at the scene. Four others sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to local hospitals.

The driver of the Mitsubishi was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and driving while unfit through drug use. He has since been released on bail pending further investigations.

Police emphasized that no officers were involved prior to the incident. They are conducting a detailed investigation and have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage that might aid the inquiry to come forward.

This incident follows a recent fatal crash on the A66 near Middlesbrough, where seven people, including two police officers—PC Matthew Blades, 37, and PC Tom Clough, 38—lost their lives after a vehicle was driven on the wrong side of the road. Authorities have not linked the two events.
