Israeli airstrikes struck multiple locations in Gaza on October 17, resulting in the deaths of at least two Palestinians and wounding several others, Palestinian medical and security sources reported. Among the casualties was a child in central Gaza, while a girl sustained critical injuries in the attacks targeting central and southern areas of the territory.

Palestinian medical sources said one of the airstrikes hit a group on Al-Baraka Street, located south of Deir Al-Balah in central Gaza. Additionally, the General Directorate of Police in Gaza indicated that an Israeli airstrike targeted a police post in the Al-Mawasi area of Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, killing at least one person and injuring several others.

Healthcare facilities in Gaza have been treating numerous wounded from the violence. Hospital sources noted that since early morning, Israeli gunfire and shelling had caused at least five deaths and multiple injuries across various parts of the enclave. The Palestinian medical authorities also stated that the overall death toll from Israel’s ongoing military operations in Gaza had reached 74,469.

The Israeli military has not released immediate comments regarding the most recent strikes. The airstrikes form part of a broader military campaign by Israel, which it says targets militant infrastructure in Gaza. The unfolding situation continues to contribute to rising casualties and growing humanitarian concerns among the civilian population in the territory.
