A large-scale rescue operation was launched on Saturday evening in the English Channel after a fishing vessel reported being in distress southwest of Eddystone Lighthouse, near Plymouth. The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) received the emergency call at approximately 6 p.m., prompting an intensive search effort.

Rescue teams quickly deployed a helicopter and lifeboats from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) stations in Plymouth and Falmouth. Coastguard officials confirmed that three individuals, believed to be French nationals, were pulled from the water and transported to a hospital for treatment. However, two crew members remained missing as of the latest reports.

The search operation involved more than 15 vessels operating in coordination with aircraft, covering a wide area in challenging sea conditions. Moderate to rough weather off the coast of Plymouth was reported, complicating rescue efforts through the night.
